Ever think your kitchen is a lost cause? That it's too expensive to remodel?
I loved hearing from Amy G, reporter for the San Francisco Giants, that she wanted a mini kitchen makeover to hold her over until she could do a full remodel- you know with new counters and floors and appliances, oh my!
Here's a picture just before we stepped in for the makeover with nothing but paint... and maybe a few new accessories, but that's to be expected, right?
There's so much you can do with paint and color to freshen up a room. And with cabinets and islands, there's plenty of opportunity to have some fun too. And whether you paint yourself or hire a painter, you can really fall in love with your kitchen again with a fresh coat of paint.
We used our new fandeck, THE essential COLOR SET to find the best neutral colors to lighten up Amy's kitchen. We chose fresh and clean KMW57 Cloud White for the perimeter cabinets, KM4898 Slow Perch for her walls, and KM5824 Winter's Park for the island and tall bank of cabinets around her refrigerator..
Don't be afraid to paint your cabinets in more than one color. In general, I like to paint darker or brighter colors for the lower cabinets to give the room a sense of calm, then go light on the uppers to keep your eyes moving around the room and away from the evitable messes we're always cleaning up on the counters.
